Staircase Manufacturer Leases New McQueen Park Facility, Brings 20 New Jobs to Area

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Quattlebaum Development Company will build a new facility at McQueen Park, an industrial park outside Summerville, that will be leased by Southern Staircase, an Atlanta-based manufacturer of pre-built wooden stairs and stair parts.

Southern Staircase, who has been working in the Charleston area for the past two years out of a Georgetown-based facility, will use the new 20,000 square-foot space as a manufacturing plant to serve the entire South Carolina coast. The company, who is new to the Charleston area, is currently leasing a temporary space at the park until the new building is completed in summer 2006. Nine people are currently working in the facility, but the company plans to hire another 12 employees.

Southern Staircase is an Atlanta-based manufacturer of pre-built wooden stairs and stair parts with plants and offices across the Southeast, including South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
